Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It can be distinguished from the conformably underlying Sharburtishan Fm, which is without rhythmites, by the distinct rhythmites and micro-stratification, and by purplish red and gray green color as well, of the formation.
Upper contact
It is conformably overlain by the Utubulag Fm (not in present Lexicon); regionally, the next younger unit is the Manger Fm of early Devonian
Regional extent
From east to west, the thickness of the formation decreases, the tuffaceous component reduces and the normal clastics increase. It is distributed at Sharburtishan Mt., Hoboksar Mongol Autonomous County in western Junggar and in the area north of Tacheng, Xinjiang.
